I have trouble relating to and communicating concepts, ideas that cannot be measured or experienced somehow. What does that all mean, that’s what I’m hoping to get to the bottom of.<\/p>\n
Peter said to always be ready to explain why you have hope (1 Peter 3:15). I have two issues with that. I totally agree with and support it, but I struggle with it. First, aside from the definition of hope found in a dictionary, what is it? You cannot put it in a measuring cup, it has no length, height, or width. I like hope, we all need hope, especially that which is found in Christ, but I can’t really grasp it.<\/p>\n
That trouble leads to the second problem. How do I explain something I can’t wrap my head around? What words do I use to tell someone about a concept that I cannot put into words? This actually is more widespread than the above verse. So one paragraph won’t cut it.<\/p>\n
I don’t cuss. That is expressed in other posts on here. I don’t use the word “swear,” as in “I swear ___.” If you were to ask me why, my only reason is that the Bible says (which actually means God says) not to. Ephesians 4:29, Ephesians 5:4, and Colossians 3:8 address the cussing. Jesus Himself said that your yes should be yes (Matthew 5:34-37) and James reiterates it in James 5:12.<\/p>\n
This isn’t good enough for some people, but I don’t know what else they want. How are you supposed to explain something that you accept solely because God said it?<\/p>\n
