Have you ever looked the wrong way through a camera lens? Some people have never been around a camera where the lens comes off intentionally, so that isn’t going to mean anything to them. In fact, there must be a better example than this, but I can’t think of it. For the sake of getting through this, I’ll run, or maybe just trot fast, with the lens idea.

If you were to do that, you would be able to see objects pretty well. You can still tell a tree is a tree, but there is a certain amount of distortion. It will vary from one lens to another, but the distortion exists. That distortion is how I would describe my outlook on things. I see things differently than many other people, and therefore, face some opposition on whether I am normal or not. There have been people tell me I am wrong just because I am different. I’d rather not get into the causes on those remarks; you can search the archive here and get a good idea of what I mean.

There are times that I am wrong. If I were to say a tree is a rock, I am either messing with you, or need to be corrected. However, would I be wrong if I were to say the tree is a chair? On the surface, yes, but I have been know to go beneath the surface. What if I was looking at what could be made from that tree? Millions of chairs have been made from wood. Just because I saw a result does not mean I was incorrect.

Just a note: This applies on how I relate to other people when they see things differently, too. It is just that I see better from my point of view, and can write that more clearly.

As far as I can remember, I have had this quirk. You see a plastic ring, I see a component to a toy spaceship. I still do this, well, not spaceships, but the same concept. I can look at a squiggly line and see the start of an image. In fact, I recently used a lighter to burn off account numbers from a piece of paper before I threw it away (you know how preventing data theft is all the rage now) and ended up tracing the shapes left over because I saw the makings of something. I don’t know what it is yet, but I might find out one day.

I guess what I am looking for is whether all this makes me wrong? Weird, odd, and out there I agree with. But only from the standpoint that I don’t fit the mold of being “normal.” I have seen what some call normal, and want no part of that.

I don’t see how I am wrong because of this different outlook. I’m not breaking any laws, whether man-made or natural. This is a minor issue, but I find it to be a recurring thought in my mind.

I am going to go out on the cliched limb and ask a silly question.
