Fishing. Even if you have never fished before, you still have an idea of what I’m talking about, and what is needed to fish.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>I know the bare minimum to fish. My tackle consists of a hook with integrated weight, a bobber, and worm. I have $18 invested in my pole. It would be $10, but I had to buy a new reel for it. So, as you can see, I just go all out to fish.<\/p>\n

I know there are people that, to say they are avid fishers would be an insult to them. They could probably tell you what the lure pictured above is for. They know all the ins and outs, and have the good tackle. I don’t have a problem with them, except I might question their use of free time. That is just because we are not the same and have different interests. That is more than alright, each of us has been created in God’s image, but we are different in some way.<\/p>\n

While we’re thinking about fishing, what’s in your tackle box. Even if you are like me, you have one, but it doesn’t hold the hooks, bobbers, lures and things you might have in mind. This tackle box holds something different because you are not going after fish, but people.<\/p>\n

God gives each one of us talents; some can write, some can talk, some can understand, still others can do other things. When we accept Christ, we are given one or more spiritual gifts. These make use of our talents and allow God to use us for His will and glory. It is these gifts and talents that make up our tackle (we’re the box, in case you’re keeping score).<\/p>\n

I’ll use myself for an example because I’ve known me the longest. With my computer graphics training, I have print and web design and video production experience. I also have what some may call the “knack” of remembering off the wall and off-beat facts. To go along with that, I have an odd view of life, where I don’t always see what is obvious to everyone else. What does that all mean? God has something in store for what He has given me the capability to do. All those things I mentioned, am I an expert. I would say I’m decent at it, but others are better than me. However, I like to say that I am the best at being me.<\/p>\n

The thing I’m getting to is, God has given each one of us a tackle box that is equipped with what we need to fish in the waters He puts us in. Then, and this is the best part, He tells us to go use our tackle (Matthew 28:19-20). Think about, these talents and gifts are the things we like doing anyway, and He is giving us permission to do them.
