Theodore, or Teddy as he would rather be called, is bordering on putting his imagination aside and transitioning into being grown up. After moving back to his mother’s childhood home and going into woods that he is supposed to avoid, he finds a secret world that thrives on imagination. He has to make a decision that will either save or doom this world in J. R. Robinson’s Theodore Roberts and the Key to the Imaginary Door<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Teddy is quite capable of getting into trouble due to his adventurous and curious nature. This nature is what gets him into the secret world that has been waiting for him. The fairies and other inhabitants need him to set things right, but there is a force that wants him to complete the destruction of the world. It is a classic good vs. evil story on the surface, but there is much more to the book that that.<\/p>\n

The power of imagination, and the good it can do is a major theme in the story. Teddy learns that there is great power in holding on to that “childish” concept. The purpose of the book is to help people understand that imagination is useful at all ages. It is not something to put away after you reach a certain age.<\/p>\n

Though it is aimed at older kids and teens, I think that older ages can enjoy the story, too. I also think that some adults need to hear that imagination is something to hold on to. It is easy to read, and there are plenty of descriptions for you to picture the world Teddy visits. Personally, I would have liked it to be longer, but I tend to like longer books in the fantasy genre.<\/p>\n
