When I have said that, it was because I could think of nothing relevant to the situation. It might not have anything useful to another person, but it is always going on about something. Since my head is never empty, and rarely clear, the concept of meditation seems good to bring up.

This is one that people on both sides have debated about; not whether to do it, but how to do it. Since my mind is running full speed most of the day, I disagree with the camp that maintains clear heads for meditation. That isn’t the only reason I disagree, but it fits better with my present rambling.

Who in their right mind can really get a clear mind? If you get it cleared, and then get some revelation, which is the point behind the whole process, your mind is no longer clear and you have just destroyed all that work. Why bother?

Additionally, there aren’t any magic words that you have to repeat. Think about this for a second. When you say meditation, what word comes to mind? It is probably “Ohmm.” You know what ohms are used to measure? Resistance. Coincidence? I don’t know.

Clear and still don’t mean the same thing. A still pond can still be muddy. A moving stream can still be clear. I would think that meditation requires focus, not absolute emptiness. I will grant that it is much easier if the clutter is removed (TV, computer, phone, etc.), but that comes with the focus.

Meditation, as I understand it, is focusing on a verse or passage from the Bible and asking God for meaning and application. With that definition, you cannot meditate with a blank mind.

That’s my thought anyway.

I can only speak for myself, but I have never been able to truly claim my mind was blank.
