I am not a fancy person. Never have been, don’t intend to be. I think I can count on two hands the number of meals I ate that had a proper table setting. I still maintain that one fork and one spoon is the best setting. You might need two knives because butter knives don’t always cut meat and steak knives ruin the rolls. There are a lot of meals that I get through with just a spoon, it works better for macaroni and cheese anyway. One day, I plan to get a metal spork and use that for as many meals as I can. It should be obvious that I would stand out at a fine dining restaurant.<\/p>\n

And now, a superfluous picture to illustrate a coming point.<\/p>\n

If I were to say Psalm 34:8, that would not necessarily mean anything to you. Let me add what it says, “Taste and see that the Lord<\/span> is good. <\/span><\/span>How happy is the man who takes refuge in Him!” (HCSB). Now the picture will make more sense.<\/span><\/p>\n

It seems to me that we try to approach the feast found in the Bible with a fancy pants attitude. We are too concerned with which utensil to use that we don’t ever get to the eating part. That is sad, and is even sadder for me because I am commenting on myself. Pick up the fork and dig in. Salad or whatever the other fork is called, soup or dessert spoon, use a ladle and pie server if you want. Sit there and gnaw on it if you want to.
