What their mission (see, I tied the title in this time) in life is. If you’ve started reading this to find yours, you are seeking possible disappointment. I can’t even tell you for sure what mine is. I’m just going to write my thoughts, randomly maybe, so you might get something. Don’t hold your breath for it though; you’ll pass out before you finish reading, and it will look awkward.

Throughout my time in school, I focused on what I thought I was there to do, learn, and do as good as I could. Based on some of the things I heard, that was seen as a mission to excel at being a dork. I’ll let you draw your own conclusions on what I mean, you’re probably able to guess pretty well.

That dorkiness marches on. I am what I term socially inept. I have a small collection of small talk topics that I draw from, but real, connecting conversation is hit and miss for me. I frequently make those around me laugh at something I say or do, I even get to do it on purpose sometimes. I guess I’ll add “proficient dork” to my dossier.

What else can I tattle on myself about. Ooh, technology. Computers, sound equipment, video, that kind of stuff is what I spend a large chunk of my free time either using, researching, or daydreaming about. As such, I have adopted the term geek. I do have people ask for computer help, and it doesn’t bother me to help them when I can. Much of my day job, and hobbies, use technology in some way. If you’re keeping score (I hope not, that would be a waste of time), that means I need to put “geek” in the dossier.

Want to know something else? I have a penchant for useless trivia. You may not know this, but licking a postage stamp burns 1/10th of a calorie. Of course, we have lost this form of exercise with the self adhesive stamps, but I can’t say I have gained weight because of that. There are other things I could tell you, for example, you might be unaware the the generally recognized longest word in the English language is pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis. If you knew that, you’re in the same boat as I am, and I advise you to abandon ship. What I am getting at, is I am able to memorize snippets of information. I can only readily memorize the snippets, up to short bursts. After that, things get mixed up and the dork in me comes out.

Where is all this heading? I don’t really know. I will draw my own conclusion, and allow you to accept it, or come up with your own. The three things I mentioned are not the only things I can do, just the ones I wanted to bring up. They are what I classify as talents that allow my spiritual gifts to be used. As with all gifts, these are meant to be shared. That is where the mission comes in. I’ve been given an assignment by God. I don’t all the details, but that’s alright. He does, and I know that He will fill in the blanks when He is ready to.

If you read this far, and are still curious about that one word, it is pronounced new-mono-ultra-microscopic- sil-uh-co-volcano-coney-oh-sis and is a lung disease caused by inhaling fine volcanic dust. Though, I don’t see why other similar dust couldn’t cause it.

I cannot be alone in this, almost (because I like to leave wiggle room) everybody has to have wondered what in the world they were in the world for.
