Depending on what your position on weight is (mine is on the upper end), the scale may not be something you want to see too often. Recently, I decided to watch my weight a little more closely than I had been, so I have tried to make peace with the scale. So far, it has not taken any of my bribes, er, gifts.

My reasons for the change in behavior are multi-fold, but I’m sure they are along the same lines as other people who decide to lose weight… Sorry, I forgot where I was going with all this.

Besides the being healthier, I have realized something that I think is important. Before the effort to eat less, my stomach was very punctual. When it came time for my lunch, my stomach was right there telling me. I could not go very long passed lunch time without getting shaky. Usually, I kept a snack around so that I could be ready in the event I was late getting to eat.

Here’s the weird thing, having reduced my breakfast, I can actually go longer without eating. Even though my stomach may growl, the shaky feeling does not hit me like it did. Now, this is not a diet pitch, I am not going to tell you eating this or that will change your life.

All I am saying is that by changing one little thing, my decisions were no longer made by something that had no business making decisions. I guess what it boils down to is that I was letting my stomach control my life more than I thought. If we all take time to ponder on that, we’d probably all find things like that. I’m going to have to look more to make sure that some other thing isn’t hiding deep down somewhere.

Looking down at the scale can be a scary experience.
