That is the point that Mike Glenn focuses on in The Gospel of Yes.

Starting with a background of Yes versus No, he tells why no can lead to more trouble, and how yes can remove limitations. No tends to lead to a cycle of withholding, followed by a binge, just like many strict diets do. Yes switches the focus from what you cannot do, to what you can do. This leads to a better life all around.

Mike Glenn goes on to describe how God says yes through the cross, creation and the resurrection. Using these, God wants us to understand the positive side of us following Him.

I like the points he makes in The Gospel of Yes; I understand about not dwelling on the negative. I do think, though, that we need to know about the negative side. Mike Glenn tells us to look at the positive side, but I don’t think we can truly appreciate the positive if we don’t see how bad the negative side is. Telling people they need salvation won’t do a lot of good if they don’t know what they need to be saved from.

I received this book from Waterbrook Multnomah in exchange for this review.

We hear the word “no” a lot, both in daily life and in churches.
