Imagine taking your family, leaving the world as you know it behind, and going someplace that is entirely different. All because God told you to. To most of us, that sounds like God is pushing it, but it does happen, and Hilary Alan tells her family’s story in Sent<\/em>.<\/p>\n

They left their comfortable lift to go someplace they had not heard of before, and where they didn’t know what to expect. However, they were being obedient to God. Throughout the book, we are told how events in the Alan family’s lives lead up to moving to Southeast Asia, and how God was preparing them, and giving teaching them to rely solely on Him.<\/p>\n

We see their experiences through their eyes. It is one thing to hear about people doing this, but Hilary Alan tells it so that we can feel like we are with them. Reading what they went through makes it seem less like a fairy tale-like story, and more a real event.<\/p>\n

Though we will not all be called for this type of moving, she does say that when we are called, no matter what it is, we should heed God’s call. To delay is the equivalent of not obeying. However, she also cautions to not pursue it for personal glory, but to share the greatest gift ever given. To finish of the book, she shares what that gift is. Even people who trust Christ need to continually hear the gospel.<\/p>\n
