<\/a>We all know someone, or know of someone, that likes to push the envelope when it comes to rules. They know the rules, but, for some reason or another, they like to see how far they can go. Many times, they have a tough exterior, and don’t want to be attached to anything or anyone. They are often called renegades, and Mel Odom writes about one such person in Renegade<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Pike Morgan grew up in the foster care system, and was in and out of trouble until he escaped with his best friend for a life on the road. After his friend is killed by a gang, Pike sets out for revenge, but ends up in witness protection so that he can testify and get the whole gang, nit just a few of them.<\/p>\n

Still liking to press the envelope, Pike also joins the Marines as a reservist. Between being called to active duty, and doing a little vigilante justice on the side, he can keep the edge off his wanting to move. However, he starts to realize he’s beginning to set down roots, and maybe even liking it. That is not a feeling he wants to have.<\/p>\n

Called to active duty overseas, he thinks he can escape the new feelings. But, while being in danger use dot be\u00a0exhilarating, Pike finds his thoughts turning to those he left behind. Now he is torn between what he used to want, and what he is starting to want in his life.<\/p>\n

Though out the book, Pike is confronted by Christians, encouraging him to realize that God has a plan for him, and it may require him to stop running. He blatantly accept Christ, but begins to realize that the others were right.<\/p>\n

Mel Odom goes into great detail about life for Pike Morgan, and how his life affects others. Since the story has war in it, the details can be graphic, so Renegade<\/em> isn’t suitable for all ages. There aren’t any actual cuss words, just that the characters “cursed,” but there is blood and gore in the story.<\/p>\n

I liked the book; I don’t personally like violence, but I understand that it was part of this story, and part of life for many people. I am glad that no actual cuss words were used in the book. I would have like to have seen Pike make a decision to accept Christ, but that might have been a intentional cliff hanger. Overall, I would recommend this book to others.<\/p>\n
