People often strive for perfection, but Christians know that we cannot be perfect due to our sin nature. Why, then, does God tell us to be perfect, just as He is perfect? David Rex Gosnell looks into this, and how the model prayer that Jesus gave us shows us the way to have an intimate relationship with God in Perfect*<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Gosnell shares how much God wants us to be with Him in Heaven, but how that cannot happen without His intervention. Since God is perfect, we cannot join Him, except when He makes us perfect*. As is usually the case, the asterisk means there is a note attached to the word. In this case, it means that we are not perfect on our own, but that Jesus puts His righteousness on us, so we are perfect through Him.<\/p>\n

Building from that, Gosnell tells how we can share the same intimacy with God that Jesus had, and uses the Lord’s prayer to show how. He breaks it down phrase by phrase to show how each one applies to our life, and our relationship with God. He describes how we are made to glorify God and to seek His will, not our own. Gosnell tells how we can trust that God will take care of our needs (not always our wants) and will protect and deliver us from temptation. However, this all requires that we trust in Him alone, not in ourselves.<\/p>\n

Through all of this Gosnell is careful to say that we are not promised a life of ease, we will face difficult times. That is even more reason to trust in God.<\/p>\n

Gosnell writes in a way that is easy to understand, but is truthful and to the point. He uses scripture to support what he says, and has personal stories to help relate it to our lives. No matter where you are in your walk with God, I believe that you will find this book useful.<\/p>\n
