Stupid is used frequently nowadays. Most often, it is levelled directly at a person. I don’t agree with that, and I will explain why in a bit. Stupid is an apt description for some of what people do. I am fine with using it as a adjective for actions, for the most part (I sound like a politician there, don’t I?). The line that I tend to toe, and step over when I am addressing myself, is the intent. Are you trying to be mean, or are you just insensitive at the moment?<\/p>\n

Now, here is my main driving thought on the word stupid, if you know enough to call someone or something that someone did stupid, you know enough to help them. If I could only live up to that.<\/p>\n

Come with me down the corridors of my thoughts. Stay behind me and don’t wander off, or you might get lost.<\/p>\n

In order to classify an action as stupid, you have to know better. That is a given. I cannot comment on the work of a nuclear physicist because I don’t know what they are talking about much of the time. I would be crazy of me to call their work stupid.<\/p>\n

Now, I know better than to stick my finger in a wall socket. And I think that doing so is stupid. However, I can’t stop there. If I see someone doing, calling it stupid is not the same as stopping them. Since I know better, I have a moral obligation to help them.<\/p>\n

Proverbs 3:27 says to not withhold good from someone when you are able to give it to them. That might be a bit of a stretch in application, but I think you get the point. And it can go further than that. If you know enough to tell someone they are wrong, you know enough to help them understand why and how to correct it.<\/p>\n
