Time to go on a diet

There are so many diet plans and programs out there (some truly are out there) today. A quick search comes back with “About 56,300,000 results.” I’m sure that number will increase as time goes on.

I’m all for being healthy, despite the fact that I am not good at it. I agree that for God to use us, we need to be usable, and that means we should try to take care of ourselves.

In keeping with that, I want to mention a diet plan that was first written about well over 1,900 years ago. This plan is slightly different than all the others, but I believe it is more helpful, and much healthier. If you want to read the whole thing, you can find it in John 3:22-30, but it can be summarized by the last verse, “He must increase, but I must decrease.”

There you have it, one of the most awesome diet plans I know of. Will it make you drop inches? It can, if food is getting in your way, but it was written to make you drop a different type of weight; the weight that worldly desires put on your shoulders. If you put Christ before yourself, you will find that you won’t be carrying such a heavy load.
