Extinguisher

I am not a fire fighter. but I have watched TV shows and read labels on fire extinguishers enough to know the proper way to put a fire out. Essentially, you have to remove one of the 3 things necessary for a fire to burn: fuel, oxygen, or heat. Something that has been picking at me today is that anger is the same way.

We often try to let anger burn out, maybe we throw something on to speed it up, but end result is the same. We might go exercise, or do something strenuous to expend the extra energy, but that does not do what is needed. We should instead focus on removing, in my opinion, the fuel. The other things would work too, but the fuel seems to be the easiest to acquire.

Anger is generally caused by pride. Pride is plentiful and easy to ignite. But humility does not burn easily. If our pride were replaced with humility, our anger would not have a needed component to burn. It would be snuffed out before it even started.

Without getting into the difference between righteous anger and sinful anger, let us put aside our pride so that our anger does not flare up.
