Spare Some Change

I think all of us have went through a time that we set out to the change the world, or at least the community. We tend to drift toward big changes, thinking that will have a great impact. What if we shot for a smaller change? Are those any less effective?

Since we’re talking about change, we can look at the world “alter.” That means to change. We might alter our schedule to make room for an activity. I have plenty of things that need altering. But I want to carry this a little further. I want to alter alter.

Change that e to an a. Now you have “altar.” That is a place to leave a sacrifice, but is also the figurative place where we surrender our life to Christ. For any big good change to become effective, we cannot stop at altering, we must altar our life. If you were to break a ring, and had the opportunity to have the jeweler who made the ring fix it, why wouldn’t you? We have that option. Our lives start broken, but the Creator wants to fix them. Let’s take Him up on it.

One “little” change can net big results.
