Common Sense for Success

When I first looked at the title of “The Book of Common Sense for a Successful Life”, I missed the “for a Successful Life” part. I thought it would be a different type of book, but it turned out OK.

“The Book of Common Sense for a Successful Life” is written to give the readers a head start on building a life that can be called successful. Doing so involves focusing on 3 areas: financial, social, and spiritual.

D. L. Dennis begins by explaining how he first looked at life as he sought success. The work he did, the mindsets he held, and the results he got. Then, he reveals what he learned, and elaborates on those lessons.

Much of what he writes is what I consider to be pretty common sense, the tips are things taught in many books and classes. Don’t spend more than you have, don’t base your life on how others appear to be doing, don’t keep to yourself all the time. All of these are important to remember and use.

He adds to the mix the spiritual side of life, the part that he says is most important, which I agree with. However, I don’t think he went far enough. In my opinion, he just went as deep as God’s love in this life, and how it makes life better (not necessarily easier). I think he needed to go further, and explain why we need Jesus during and after this life. On the surface, that doesn’t fit in with the point I think he was going for, but I believe it would have made the book more useful.

Overall, “The Book of Common Sense for a Successful Life” had good points, ones that can be used be nearly everyone. It is an easy book to read. I do think it could be expanded upon . I received this book from BookCrash.com as part of their review program.
