Blindsided by God

It is easy to get down when things go from being pretty good to the point when you start expecting something bad to happen every single day. You can reach a point that you start thinking God has stepped out for a sandwich and left you to take care of yourself. Peter Chin, along with his family, experienced a time like this. Though I have not had anything near what Peter Chin experienced happen, Blindsided by God is still refreshing to read.

I have experienced times when trouble seems to come in bunches, and that feeling of God leaving you alone comes right along with it. Chin tells how he felt alone, at times physically and spiritually. However, something would happen, or he would meet someone, and he would see that God was working for the ultimate good.

Using his personal story, with the sadness and humor that came with it, he shares that we can trust God to be with us. He does not gloss over the problems, or his reactions to them.

Chin cautions that storybook happy endings are not guaranteed on earth; those await us in Heaven. The success in hardship comes from trusting God, no matter what comes our way. Blindsided by God is a great reminder that we are not alone. Others know how we feel, and God will not leave us.

I received a free copy of this book from Bethany House in exchange for this review.
