Pocket Your Dollars
With the economy the way it is, nearly everyone is facing conflicts between how much money is coming in and how much is going out. Even if they aren’t examining the situation, and maybe learning about a better way to live financially couldn’t hurt. Carrie Rocha takes a look at how your attitude has an effect on your financial state in Pocket Your Dollars.”
Using her own life as a backdrop, she explains how your views on your finances will influence how you treat the money your have. Guilt, happiness, jealousy and other emotions play a role in how you spend or save. She goes through the 5 attitudes that cause financial hardships, like trying to look wealthy and spending to feel better. Each of the attitudes are described, and alternatives are offered.
Also in the book, Rocha provides skills that are helpful in changing the attitudes, like not giving in to internal pressure that has been causing you to spend more than you should be.
As a final part of the book, she gives advice on how to start climbing out of the hole, and staying out of it.
The book has plenty of good advice. I would have liked to have seen more reasons for getting out of debt, something along the lines of being a good steward of what God has given you. A Bible verse was quoted, and she mentioned giving to her church and working on missions; I just would have to have seen more.
I received this book from Bethany House in exchange for this review.
