If, what then?

Though kids are extremely good at this, I know adults that are pretty good with the What if? line of conversation. Most of the time, we’ll tolerate a series of these questions for a time, then we become annoyed. We often don’t see any purpose behind asking what if? But, what if that is the wrong point of view?

Just to keep this short, maybe we need to spend more time looking at the consequences and results of what we do before we do them. For example, is it really a good idea to eat that third piece of cake?

I realize that this way of thinking can lead to inaction, but maybe spur of the moment decisions are not always the best way to go.
