I have been told that I have too much free time… by a lot of people… many times. I do not deny that, but it can be useful.

We had a large snowfall Wednesday night (3/4/15) into Thursday (3/5/15). With that, some of my usual work gets postponed, and clearing snow does not require all of my attention, so my mind vacations. This week, the vacation took me on a trip to see which capital letters would be able to kick a soccer ball. Please bear with me.

The best ones would be A H K M N R W X. They have two legs and can stand on one and kick with the other. The worst ones would be B D F J O P T U V Y. They have only one leg or no legs at all. To kick would require them to fall down. Some of them would have trouble getting back up. There are some that might be able to swat the ball, but not have a lot of force. C E I G L Q S Z have parts that could might be able to dribble the soccer ball. The letter I would only work in serif fonts.

I know most people are now wondering what purpose this serves. Aside from keeping my excess mental energy focused, there are some long term ideas that might come from this. I am a graphic artist, with a focus in advertising. Though sports-playing letters aren’t widely sought after, paying attention to details is needed. If something like that would be needed, picking the wrong letter to kick the ball would affect the ad.

We like to be good enough in life, but how good is good enough? Sometimes we try to pass off laziness as good enough. God didn’t say do enough to get by when we serve Him, at least, I haven’t seen that in the Bible. We aren’t supposed to trample others to be the absolute best, but we are to do everything for God (Colossians 3:23). What does He deserve? Everything, or just enough?
