Paths to Power

pathsHow many times have churches prayed for revival in the land? How often have we asked God to move through us? As often as these requests have been made, Christians have often waited, expecting God do something while they went about business as usual. If we expect God to act in power, we need to be obedient to Him. In one of his classic works, A. W. Tozer explains the Paths to Power.

For such a short book, there is a lot to be found in it. Tozer writes how asking God to move must be coupled with doing what He tells us to do. God has clearly given us instructions for our lives, and we need to obey those if we expect Him to work through us.

In the book of James, we are told that we need to do what the Bible says, not just listen to it. Tozer makes this same point. We need to stop sinning, trying to impress people with our looks, holding grudges and start forgiving, praying, witnessing, ministering to others. God is ready to act, but He won’t until we are listening to and obeying Him.

Though Paths to Power was first published decades ago, the words still apply today.

I received a free copy of this book from Moody Publishers in exchange for this review.
