Facing the Blitz

All of us hit some snag in life, it might be a sickness, loss of income, loss of a loved one, or something else. Though all of us will have a problem like this, we don’t all handle it very well. In Facing the Blitz, Jeff Kemp shares what he has learned through his troubles in life.

Kemp tells the three strategies he uses when facing what he calls a blitz, an unexpected problem that interferes with your original plan. At the root of all of his advice is to trust God. Kemp has been the victim of blitzes on and off the football field, and he wants to help others with his experience.

Though not everyone will fully appreciate how the football references apply, these references do not get in the way of the message of the book. Even people who are not big football fans will be able to understand the strategies. Kemp did a good job of explaining what he means so that a wide audience can understand where he is coming from.

Different life stages are addressed, so both married people and single people can use this book as a source for help when you get the proverbial lemons in life.

One of the most important thoughts that stuck with me is that you need to remember the long term. Staying focused on the immediate things can keep you from seeing God’s ultimate plan.

I received a copy of Facing the Blitz from Bethany House Publishers in exchange for this review.
