And Now For Something Completely Different

God speaks through His word, but some of us need extra help on understanding particular passages. Commentaries are great for those situations, but some can be too general. Matthew Martin took a different route on his commentary. And Now For Something Completely Different is a verse by verse look at the book of Hebrews.

Hebrews has a lot of information in it. Many of the chapters are familiar, but, overall, the book doesn’t get a lot of attention by many people. And Now For Something Completely Different helps open the door to the treasure held within this letter to early Christians.

Covering each verse is something that I haven’t seen before in the commentaries I’ve read. Much of the time, they cover whole passages. This is done to save time and space, and because they all go together. However, having one that goes verse by verse through a book is helpful. Each scripture is broken down and talked about.

Martin uses cross references to other verses, but he keeps it to a minimum. He uses clear and easy to understand language, and contemporary examples to help the reader comprehend what the verses say.

There is plenty of detail for each verse, but not so much that you feel overwhelmed. Martin did a good job of keeping it concise.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher as part of the BookCrash review program.
