Purposeful Design

At some point, we all wonder how we got here. Was it some random chemical reaction? Was there an intelligent force behind it? Jay Schabacker says it was not only an Intelligent Designer, but one with a purpose. He shares all this in his book, Purposeful Design.

Covering the creation story found in Genesis 1-2, Schabacker describes how each thing that was created had a specific purpose, whether enjoyment, work, food, or something else. There were no accidents or mistakes made by God.

Though he does go into some detail on humans and animals, none of it is real complicated or confusing. He describes the book as a “coffee table book.” I believe it fits that description. It is a book you can leave “laying” around and possibly invite a conversation with children and visitors.

I have read more intensive books on creation vs evolution, and, though I like to read them, I know that some people just want the basics. Purposeful Design gives you the basics; enough to understand, but not so much that you feel overwhelmed.

For the kids, or adults who like pictures, there are plenty of photos and illustrations. That is another feature that makes it a good book to leave out for people to pick up and read.

I believe Schabacker did and great job showing how all of creation had a purpose when God created it. It is clear and concise.

I received a free copy from the author as part of the BookCrash program in exchange for this review.
