It Is Finished

What happens when a Christian sins? Does that negate their salvation? Do they have to live with the guilt for the rest of their lives? Are they really just pretending? David Wilkerson talks about this in It Is Finished: Finding Lasting Victory over Sin.

Though Christians are not going to go out and see how much trouble they can get into, they will fall and yield to temptation at some point. What happens then? Often, they carry the guilt of that sin around with them for years to come. This guilt will generally lead to more problems, since feeling guilty hinders being joyful in God.

David Wilkerson shows that God, through Christ, has totally paid the debt incurred by sin. There is no need to hold on to the guilt. Once we admit that we cannot pay the debt or let go of the guilt ourselves, we can let Jesus do what He came to do, pay the debt and heal us.

Using scripture, Wilkerson shows how people in the Bible faced the same trouble we do, and how God didn’t just turn His back on them, but continued to love them. The book also contains testimonies from others who have been helped through the teaching of David Wilkerson.

One thing that I did not see is that having our debt paid and guilt removed doesn’t mean it is all OK. From my understanding, we will still have to give an account of what we did, and I think that is something that should have been in the book somewhere.

I received a free copy of this book from Chosen Books in exchange for my review.
