The Hidden Treasure of Dutch Buffalo Creek, Heirloom Edition

DutchBuffaloAfter finding a lost bayonet in Dutch Buffalo Creek, James takes on the challenge of finding out how it came to be there. Along the way, and with the help of Jackson, he finds out a lot about living in The Hidden Treasure of Dutch Buffalo Creek.

Jackson Badgenoone is a ghostwriter, someone that was never born, and observes history as it happens. She encourages James to look beyond the simple question of why the bayonet is in the creek to what events led up to leaving the bayonet and what the person who left it was and endured. James’ curiosity is encouraged and pushed so that he doesn’t settle for less than what he can get, information-wise especially.

There are other points sprinkled throughout the story, loving others, spending time with your family, and knowing that God loves you and has a plan for you are a few of the points. These are good themes that we need to spend more time thinking about.

I had trouble reading this book. To me, it seemed like it would get going and then change to a different person, place, or time so rapidly that I got confused. When I read a story, I like to get immersed in it, like I was actually in it, but I couldn’t get to that point with The Hidden Treasure of Dutch Buffalo Creek. The story says a lot, and has a lot of meaning, so I am disappointed that I had trouble reading it.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher through the BookCrash.com book review program in exchange for this review.
