The Trace
The Trace takes a new route in superhero stories. Ella Kepler suddenly realizes that she is not normal and is thrust into a world she had been born for. Through it all, she must come to terms with her past, present, and future. The plot has a good mix of action and slower times that let you appreciate what is happening. Though the story is entertaining and full of twists that surprise you, there is more to the book.
Ella faces struggles that most people can relate to: disappointment, anger, fear, doubt, and others. With each one, she must decide how to deal with it and what she will do afterward. If that wasn’t enough, she also must learn to accept who she is and that she has a purpose.
I was a little hesitant when I started reading the book as it took some time to get going, but before long, I didn’t want to stop reading. The characters are relatable and the story is kept clean. The only downside I could list is the big cliffhanger at the end. But that just means that I have a reason to get the second book.
I received a free copy of the book from the author via Voracious Readers Only in exchange for an honest review.
