The Turning

What do you when you receive a plain calling from God? One that tells you to do something unfamiliar or uncomfortable? Will you obey or run away? A group of people face that very situation in The Turning by Davis Bunn.

Five people receive a specific direction from God to face an opposition that is much larger than they are. They also are not given all the details, just that they should go. This is often what we face. We know that we should obey what God has told us, but we think that we are not capable. We also don’t always fully know what will happen.

The book shows how we should be, obedient even when we must trust in God through faith alone. The people suffer fear and doubts, but move forward knowing God will do what He says.

The possibility of a corporation starting a trend to end hope seems a little far-fetched, but it does happen on smaller scales. We are to be examples of the hope we find in Christ. Bunn has done an excellent job of showing that in The Turning.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. In fact, I found it hard to stop reading. It was fast-paced and easy to follow. Bunn has written a story that not only entertains, but has an important lesson in it as well.

I received a free copy of this book from Moody Publishers in exchange for this review.
