How do you communicate the gospel to children? They aren’t going to understand terms like propitiation, they need words they can understand. Of course, colorful pictures help. Dandi Daley Mackall gives parents a way to easily share the gospel with kids in Wow! The Good News in Four Words.
Using the words Wow, Uh-Oh, Yes, and Ahh is something that will appeal to both children and adults. These are all words that kids can understand easily, so they are well suited to form a presentation of God’s good news to them. Starting with Creation, and going through the Fall, salvation, eternal life, and Christian living, WOW! clearly explains the gospel. Parents have a simple way to talk to kids about salvation, and kids have a simple way to learn about it.
The four words are repeated and built on at the end of each section, which will reinforce them in the minds of kids. This not only helps them better remember what they have read, but also gives them a method to share the gospel with others.
Each page is full of colorful pictures, illustrated by Annabel Tempest. Young children will be able to use the pictures to follow along as the book is being read. Older children can use the pictures to better grasp the point each word is being used for. According to the kids in the Sunday School class at my church, the pictures were very cool.
