Lookie There

On commercials that involve someone eating a sandwich, they seem to always keep it upright. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten that way. I always turn it upside down. Why? I don’t know and no one cares.

On top of that, the food in the commercials does not look like that when you order it. The burgers will often be much flatter, the pizza not as gooey, and so on and so forth.

What do either of these things have to do with anything? Just that we are, as a society, obsessed with looks. Look at the differences in commercials and real life. I’ve mentioned food, but there’s shampoo, weight management, clothing, and many more. The ads I classify as underhanded will often use good looking people to further entice their targets.

Obviously there is a purpose for this. I am not naive enough to think that just any person can sell things. You’re not going to see me on TV advertising swim wear. I am not built thin enough to convince men to buy swim trunks. However, that doesn’t mean I agree with the concept.

If we would look at people the way God does, not only would we seen them differently, we would treat them better. I’m glad God looks at the heart and not exterior appearances. That wouldn’t be pretty.
