A Short Walk to the Edge of Life

TPf_2DLXImagine taking the trip you’ve been looking forward to for years. You have everything planned out, and are sure you will get through it without a hitch, well, no major ones. What do you do when things not only don’t go as planned, but turn into a life-threatening situation? Scott Hubbartt went through just that, and shares what he discovered in A Short Walk to the Edge of Life.

His trip started out just fine. A few minor snags, but nothing he couldn’t take in stride. He was confidant that he would be back to his starting point in a few days. Later on, he realized that the confidence was actually arrogance.

Hubbartt learned a lot during his time of being lost without food and very little water. He had to face fear and what seemed like certain death. But those things were just signs pointing him to what he really needed to find.

Hubbartt found how to put himself aside and rely on God. The whole ordeal, though not something he had planned or wanted to go through, taught him to put God and His will first. That is a lesson that we all need to learn, and this book gives us an opportunity to see that without having to endure the same hardships ourselves.
