Parables of the Deer

Nature can be wonderful to look at, but there is more to see than just pretty sights. God has provided us opportunities to see more of His nature in the world around us. Carl Schmuland uses his pictures of deer to illustrate points of the Christian life in Parables of the Deer.

You cannot live as a Christian unless you know what that means. The Bible has been given to us so that we may know what God has done for us, and how we are to live. Parables of the Deer is meant to get you started in maturing as a Christian by providing explanations of history in the Bible and essential Christian teachings. Though it is not written to explain everything, it provides a basis for you to continue learning.

This is not really a devotional in the traditional sense; it is meant to be read straight through. The table of contents does make it easy to find a certain topic if you are looking for one. Also, there are indices that let you find where particular scripture references are used and where non-Biblical names are found. This is nice when you can remember the verse or term, but not the particular topic.

Something that I would like to say, this book is written from a Calvinist standpoint. I am not going to get into any discussion about that, I just wanted anyone reading this review to be aware of it as it can make a difference to some.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher as part of the BookCrash program in exchange for this review.
