Angels From Caldera

AngelsFromCalderaAfter terrorists set off a nuclear warhead and destroy New York, President Andrews is paralyzed in a helicopter crash. Following a mysterious visit by a woman telling him that he must persuade the country to seek peace, he is healed and begins to try to convince the public to turn the other cheek. Many are opposed to this idea, but there are others that are willing to help. Will the country listen to the Angels From Caldera. or will the world be plunged into nuclear war?

I wasn’t real sure what to expect when I started this book. From what I read on the back cover, it looked like it would be a good read. Overall, I like the concept. Many people want to retaliate, even over small things. Being willing to let insults and injuries go without getting revenge or holding on to bitterness is something that Jesus told us to do. I support that idea.

Though I don’t know why, I could only read a few pages at a time. It took me longer than usual to read because of this. I just wasn’t able to get into the story very well.

I do have a couple of issues with the content. I was not expecting the amount of foul language that it contained. It slacked off as the story went on, but I don’t think cussing is useful in any situation, so that hurt my opinion of the book.

There were several subplots that were going on. As the main plot went on, these began to come together. I like the variety that this type of writing carries. However, it seemed a bit jumpy at times. The passage of time was acknowledged in the chapter headings, but not always in the writing. A few days might pass and the characters would be doing something different that they had been the last time the story had focused on them, but I didn’t see much transition.

I still like the message of loving others in Angels From Caldera, and I can deal with the jumpiness of the story. However, the cussing is unacceptable to me and that would keep me from fully recommending it to others.

I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.
