The History of the American Space Shuttle

The space shuttles no longer make trips into space, but they had a long and historic run. The History of the American Space Shuttle chronicles the beginning of the space shuttle program, as well as all the missions each model flew.

The book tells about the start of the program, from conception through design and testing to the missions. The descriptions of each shuttle are given and each mission is detailed. The details include more than just what was accomplished. For example, any wake up music that was played, or interesting tidbits about the crew are also provided. There are special sections that tell about the two lost shuttles, and the book tells about the retirement of the shuttles.

This book has a lot of interesting facts and information in it. I enjoyed learning the details about the missions and crews. It provided a deeper understanding than just hearing about the shuttle missions on the news when they happened.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
