Answering the Toughest Questions About God and the Bible
New and long time Christians alike have a tendency to hide doubts about God. Somewhere, the idea became widespread that you have to keep them to yourself instead of seeking answers. Bruce Bickel and Stan Jantz counter this concept in Answering the Toughest Questions About God and the Bible. They encourage Christians to ask questions, and know where to find answers.
I’ve been in church all my life, and read the Bible through many times, but I still wonder about God and the Bible. It isn’t so much as do I believe but why do I believe. I’ve tried sticking with, “The Bible says its true, and that is enough,” but that line of thought won’t help others understand my beliefs. Whether you’re at at the “do I” or “why do I” stage, this book can offer help. Addressing the ten most common questions, Bickel and Jantz share the experience and show what the Bible has to say. They also give practical ways to seek answers on your own.
The book is easy to read, and very engaging for one that addresses difficult questions. Showing what the Bible says about the topics, and using their experiences and humor, Bickel and Jantz provide understandable answers. Where they do not have room to address all the aspects, they show you where to go to find out more. There are discussion questions in-line with the text so that you can stop and consider what you have read, which is good for both individual and group settings.
No matter how long you have been a Christian, it is time to stop trying to sweep your doubts under the rug and address them head on. Answering the Toughest Questions About God and the Bible can help.
