Spoken

There are various types of posts here, ranging from a blurb about a random thought to book reviews to deeper views for Bible studies. Depending on which person wrote the post, the style will be straight-forward or round about. Do you know why? Does it matter? In a way, yes. We are all different in some way. Just because I don’t always approach an issue or problem head on doesn’t mean I’m wrong. The same can be true for how we hear from God. He may speak in a voice that we comprehend, or allow us to realize something. Not all of the ways people have tried to claim as God speaking are true, but that is beyond the scope of this post.

When I was younger, I expected that God would speak in a voice. Maybe one that I alone heard, but it would be composed of sound waves that made the trip through my eardrums and the associated parts in my head. I now know that He speaks in other ways, though I still wait for a voice like that at times. That might be for want of the awe it would bring. However, we cannot realistically pin God down to only one type of communication. He is not limited like we are.

I have heard people say that God spoke to them. I cannot say for certain that He has done that to me. There are times that I have heard a “voice,” and I believe it was God telling me something, but those were the exceptions. More often, it seems that thoughts are how He communicates with me, but only when I am truly seeking His will.

If you stop and consider this whole concept, it is really amazing. There are over 6 billion people in the world, and no two people will have the same way of hearing from God. The basics might be the same for several people, but there will still be some difference. If you let that sink in, there should be a sense of awe come over you.

I’ll end with this, have you stopped to listen to God, however He might speak?
