Prayers for Today

Prayer is often talked about, and often misunderstood. For many, it is a habit and something that we are supposed to do because we’re Christians. The connection to God is not as deep as we would like. Kurt Bjorklund found the same problems in his life, but he noticed that by reading the prayers of others, he could see his own longings expressed. Prayers for Today is a compilation of prayers that he has found useful, and that he hopes will help readers to further their prayer lives.

Made to read as a devotional, each of the 260 days has prayers related to a specific topic, like surrender, petition, praise, and intercession. Though it is set up to read on a daily basis, there is a table of contents for each topic if you are looking for a particular one. The prayers come from both well known sources, and people you may not have heard of before, but all of them can help with your personal prayer life.

Bjorklund isn’t expecting readers to repeat the prayers like a mantra, but instead to use them to build up their prayers. You can use them to reflect on your life, and let God speak to you.

The book is easy to read and understand, and can be used either on a daily basis, or when you’re looking for guidance on a particular topic.

I received this book for free from Moody Publishers in exchange for this review.
