The Prayer God Loves to Answer

accessingwisdomWhy is it that wisdom is so honored but we are hesitant to pursue it? We know we need it, but why can’t we just have it now? Maybe it isn’t as hard to get as we make it out to be. James 1:5 says that if anyone lacks wisdom, he just needs to ask God, who will give it freely and won’t even hold your lack of wisdom against you.

I’ve read the book of James many times, but I didn’t realize how much it addressed wisdom. Most of Daniel Henderson’s The Prayer God Loves to Answer is centered around James 3:17-18. Though two verses don’t seem like a lot to write about, there are many parts of verse 17 alone that we need to consider. It speaks of what true wisdom is, including merciful, gentle, full of good fruit, not playing favorites, and several other facets. Henderson writes about each facet and explains what they are, why they are important, and gives examples of how to pursue them. Each chapter ends with a prayer starter to help you begin your pursuit of wisdom.

Henderson does a great job of writing about seeking true wisdom. He’s down to earth and easy to understand. The book flows well and is written in a way that everyone can read and grasp. It made me take a hard look at myself and I realized that there are areas I’m needing work in. I would recommend this book to anyone who is wanting to learn more about living wisely.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
