For some people, rags are garbage. Once a piece of clothing gets to that stage, it is thrown away. Others keep the clothing and make rags. Either way, rags are not seen as very valuable.

Maybe we’re looking at them from the wrong perspective. If you have something valuable, like some silver heirlooms, what is the first thing you reach for when it’s time to clean them? Most likely, you grab a rag. The reason being is that it won’t hurt the rag to get dirty. Even with that simple reason, rags are well suited for cleaning.

In many ways, we could be compared to rags. Not everyone is going to see us as worthwhile, but God always will. On top of that, He uses what others consider to be lowly to shame the “high and mighty.” (Look at 1 Corinthians 1:26-28)

OK, maybe the rags don’t belong on display, but neither do we.
