Digital Connection

Pin it, tweet it, like it, post it, there are a lot of ways to share things online, and to make connections. So many, that the physical connections can suffer. We spend so much time online that we forget reality.

This doesn’t happen to everybody (and no, the irony of posting this online is not lost on me), but it is an easy trap to get caught in. For example, you take a picture of a butterfly on a flower and post it somewhere. Then you wait for people to like it, comment on it, or whatever tickles your fancy. You start to crave the attention.

Another way it happens is you contact people online only, the physical world is left behind. If someone doesn’t have a profile, they aren’t your friend.

I’m not one to say that the internet must go, that would be pretty dumb for me to say, but it should be used in moderation. It’s great that you liked something I said online, but I would rather be liked in person. Even shy people like me want to experience real life.
