Service Station Angel

Ernie Price thrives on helping others and serving God. Though he does it quietly, people throughout the town are touched by what he does. They realize just how true that is after he is severely wounded, and it takes the town to do what he has been doing in Service Station Angel.

I admit, I was unsure what to expect when I started this book. The back cover synopsis seemed interesting, but I am a little hesitant anytime I am unfamiliar with the author. Lisa J. Schuster wrote a book with a great plot that I never found boring. It was easy to follow, and enjoyable to read.

God was prominent in the story line, and Ernie, along with several others, turned to Him when trouble hit. Humbly serving those around you was displayed as not just a great thing to do, but as something that should be a way of life. Maintaining relationships, and forming new ones, was a large part of the plot. The entire book could serve as an example of how we should live in Christ.

I realize that this next part may seem nitpicky, but I wanted to go ahead and include my thoughts on it in a, hopefully, constructive way. Reading through it, I did notice several grammatical errors. There weren’t anything that I consider serious, I’ve made most of them myself at some point, but they were there.

Also, I know they were used to convey the emotional stress the character was under, but I still think the story could have done without the cuss words. Granted, there were only 4 or 5, but that kind of language stands out when I see it.

Overall, I would recommend the book. I found it interesting, and was surprised about how things came together in the end.

I received a free copy of Service Station Angel from the author in exchange for an honest review.
